So you want to play some basketball?

Carl followed up with Jenni Wednesday. And he looks great!! He is healing really well. So the plan of action is this; they will see him September 17th for the 6-8 week post op visit. They will then see him every six months. When he is able to talk and communicate how he feels physically (1-2 years of age) they will see him once a year. These check-ups will by just to see how everything is going and he is doing with his hydrocephalus.

The shunt he has now should be fine and he shouldn't grow out of it. Unfortunately they can't promise he won't have to have any more surgeries. If his shunt malfunctions they will have to go back in.

So Carl will have the shunt for the rest of his life. What does this mean for him? Nothing he will just have a shunt. Carl will be able to do anything he wants. . .with a couple of exceptions. . . they recommend he does not play football or wrestle because it would increase his chances of breaking his shunt. With that being said they did let me know they do have patients that participate in those sports. They just advise against.

Since his momma is a football fan I was a bit sad but hey he is healthy and is going to be okay. But I did ask if he can play basketball, and that is okay by them.

So Carl, would you like to play some basketball?
